Australia Month in Vietnam starts
According to Nhan Dan Online Australia Month in Vietnam starts today with the presentation of the logo design contest featuring the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Bill Tweddell this morning presented the special prize of the logo design contest plus VND 10 million to Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet from Hanoi. The winning logo will be used to highlight the relationship throughout 2008. Eight other received the consolation prizes. Being launched since last October, the contest attracted the participation of around 200 entries from cities and provinces.
Ambassador Bill Tweddell also announced a series of activities to take place on the occasion. Of which, Australian education exhibition will be held on January 26, the National Day of Australia at Melia Hotel, Hanoi. “Experience Australia Day”, the name of the event, will provide Vietnamese students with information on education and culture, including opportunities for scholarships.
The focus of the Australia Month will be a photo exhibition named “Australia – Vietnam: Then & Now” in Hanoi from February 26 till March 7 at Ly Thai To Park. The photos on display highlight the memorial official moments in bilateral relations between the two countries during the past 35 years. After being display in Hanoi, these pictures will be on show in Ho Chi Minh City.
The last of the Australia Month events will be a musical collaboration between world-renowned Australian opera soprano – Annalisa Kerrigan, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Vietnam at the Hanoi Opera House on February 26.
Ambassador Bill Tweddell said that all the events depict the close relations, particularly cultural and education co-operation between the two countries.
